I was just curious how many (if any) people on the list only got into welding and/or auto restoration in general AFTER they got their VWs, specifically so they could do restoration work on their cars? Do people need to have been into bodywork/engineering for years before taking on things like this or is study, practice and TLC enough? ______________________________________________________ Study, Practice and TLC are certainly 90% of auto restoration. I think most people that do the work on their cars themselves have both a general love for their cars and a lack of the thousands of dollars it would take to have someone else restore these cars. There isn't a whole lot that can't be accomplished with a decent set of tools, some hard learned experience and a few good manuals. You also won't truly know or understand your car until it's taken some of your blood (and some choice words). Body Men and Engineers started somewhere too! Jump in and just do it, worst thing that can happen is that you have to take it apart and do it again :) Travis '66 Fastback www.keedyweb.net/fastback ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/
