Ahhh yes, the Bogtina, We had a 1978 Australian assembled on with the german spec 2.0 4 cylinder. Blew the doors off an english one, and used to rev right out to 6200 all by itself (auto trans). It was almost completely different from the english car too. It was also available with a 4.1 litre! Damn! I'm happy to say, that I think my type 3 was in fact german assembled - The australians aren't renowned for their rustproofing!
