Just make yourself a tool. I used a piece of 18 gauge sheet metal 1 1/2" by 4". Cut a slot in one of the short sides that is 3/8" wide by 1 1/2"deep. Bend a short 90 degree flange on the opposite short side. just go over all the cut edges with a file and side paper to make it smooth and burr free. Then just slide this piece between the spacer and the panel and pop the spring clip out. Just be ready to catch it. I had one fly across my garage. Took me 30 minutes with a magnet to find it. Found lots of other interest metal bits in the process. <G> BTW, You can also buy a similar tool at your FLAPS.
