Hey folks! Long time no read, been so busy I haven't been able to pay any attention to the car. But now, I'm back, sort of. Prob: horn goes off on turns, while braking this is a 72 squareback, BUT I have an oldstyle horn-ring steering wheel and my horn wiring does NOT follow the book. Diagnosis: sufficient force applied to the steering wheel when at turning positions causes the horn to honk. Namely when the force is applied to the top or bottom of the wheel. What I don't understand is exactly what's happening. But it is definitely the steering WHEEL, not the column, that is doing it. It seems the brass on the bottom of the steering wheel is making contact with the copper strips on the column where the signal housing etc is. Yet it seems it is ALWAYS this way, anyhow. I guess I just don't understand where the electrons are going or not going in order for this problem to occur. Also of note. The steering wheel has play in it, no matter how I tighten it down. The splined post moves about 1/32" -1/16" vertically. This movement is NOT what is making the horn go, however. I haven't been able to get this horn to work consistently well since 1996, when I bought this thing. I've missed you guys *sniff*. - -- Mike Wodkowski 72 FI SQBK Brooklyn wodkowski@mac.com ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/
