[T3] Engine Stopping and Idiot Lights
<x-flowed>My wife was out in the '69 FI MT Fastback today when the engine quit on her.
The car was warmed up and running fine (as it normally does lately) as she
ran several errands. She was cruising on level road at ~35 MPH when the
engine simply quit. No lurching or missing; the engine simply stopped
running.
She did look down at the instrument cluster and noted that there were no
idiot lights on as she coasted to the side of the road.
After stopping the car, she restarted the car with no problem, made one more
stop, and made it home with no further trouble. While restarting the car,
the idiot lights functioned normally.
Since she saw no idiot lights while coasting to a stop, does this mean the
ignition switch (or something else in the ignition circuit) is going
intermittent? If the engine stops for any reason with the key "on", the
idiot lights should both come on, right?
(regular tune-up stuff like valves, dwell, timing, fuel pressure, etc.. is
all in order)
