The only way this could happen would be if power were not getting to the switched circuits on the other side of the ignition switch. It's possible that the switch was not quite in the right postion and this will neve happen again, but my guess is that the ignition switch is at fault and you should keep your eyes open for a cheap one. Buy it now while you have the luxury of looking for a bargain, rather than later when you have to pay whatever. There always seems to be someone selling new ones on ebay for $29.95. That seems high to me.
