Shad: >>>One idea I'd kicked around before: what if you took some manifolds (kinda like stock FI ones, only bigger) and made them turn inward, just like stock FI, but instead put on DCOE flanges and put a DCOE on each side? Then, in between them, make an airbox and duct the box to a filter in a cold place. I wonder if it'd fit... or, flip the idea around: make the manifolds go outward, mount the DCOE, then have the air come directly from the fender ducting... I've been kicking this around for at least 6 months. I even watched the price of DCOE and DCOM carbs on ebay. I have access to a casting shop, and of course 3D-CAD, but have not taken the time to measure so I can start designing. I did however measure the space between the engine cover and the tin. It would be very tight on the right side, and the oil cooler makes it impossible on the left side. So, you chuck the oil cooler.......WHOA..that ought to get the flames roaring. I just figure that it would look super cool and no one else has done it, but fuel injection is definately the best route. Toby: >>>Even if you had an engine powerful enough to push the car you would have to be traveling over 80mph to even START to begin to feel an inkling of it. True. My mistake of terminology. I meant a supply of cooler non-stagnant air. >>>If you want anything close to ram-air then buy a turbo or supercharger. Been thinking about this one for a while also. I don't care much for turbos because of the heat and having to control max boost. I like superchargers, but in order to stay under the engine lid you would have to use a centrifigul, and there is not alot of room for one, let alone adding another enclosed belt drive. Anybody else have experience with DCNFs? I don't doubt you Shad, but your stories are the worst I've heard so far. Brian Schlepp 69 Fasty - "Purple Passion" P.S. I serious about somebody doing a carb-sync clinic!!! P.S.S. Sorry Jim, but yes I do have j-tubes and capped off fan housing. ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
