If you killed the oil cooler, redesigned the left-hand tins to be less
restrictive over cylinders 3 and 4, and then mounted a sizeable external oil
cooler with a fan on it, you'd be golden.  Plus, this would completely
eliminate the pressure-controlled oil "thermostat," which often bypasses oil
(notably heavier ones) around the cooler at higher cruising rpms.

I hear ya.  You're welcome to try them out - e-bay is always a way to get
rid of them :-).  But, I'll betcha a beer at the invasion that if you try
them, you'll get frustrated...
