<x-charset iso-8859-1>DanielB=> I am using 96 octane leaded Bear in mind that US and European octane ratings are different. => how should I expect the more potent petrol to affect the timing? Higher octane effectively burns slower, so it can take a little more advance, but I'd say given your needs you'd do well to leave the timing where it is. => additives used in leadfree fuel in old engines to simulate lead? I have that experience, and it's a complete waste of time in our engines. Don't worry about it, you can happily run unleaded with confidence and without modifications of any kind. What you've heard are echoes of oil-company propaganda, from when they were making up reasons why they shouldn't have to change their systems to eliminate lead.
