<x-charset iso-8859-1>Unless you're pulling out the distributor gear as well, I don't see where you would have a problem, regardless of where the rotor is pointing. The dog on the bottom of the distributor is offset, so it will only engage the drive gear one way. As long as you indicate where the distributor housing is in relation to the motor (which would be easy if you pull the clamp with the distributor) its going to drop back in the same way, unless you rotate the motor while the distributor is out. Even then, since the slot in the distributor drive shaft is offset, the distributor will still be lined up correctly, unless you remove the distributor gear after you remove the distributor. As far as making sure you have the distributor in correctly, just line it up relatively close to where it was when you pulled it, drop the distributor in, then wiggle the rotor or the top of the distributor shaft as you work the distributor down. The dog on the bottom of the distributor will engage the slot in the distributor drive and the housing will drop the rest of the way into place. Theoretically, if you pulled the distributor clamp with the distributor (hard to do on a Type 3) you should retain your initial timing settings...
