<x-charset iso-8859-1>I have one of the two hitches that are on eBay, and Everett is right. It needs two brackets that screw to the body. The hitch then bolts through the brackets into the bumper mounting points. I have some pictures of the hitch and brackets up on my web space: http://www.cableone.net/notchback/images/hitch.jpg http://www.cableone.net/notchback/images/hitch1.jpg http://www.cableone.net/notchback/images/hitch2.jpg This unit will eventually go into my '65 Notch. The hitch is stamped "VW69W" and has a max rating of 1000 pounds and an max of 88 pound tounge weight. As far as the Westfalia goes, there was one on eBay a couple months ago. It was located in Germany and ended up selling for about €75 or so. The only reason I didn't bid on it is that shipping to the states would have been a little over $150. I couldn't justify that. On the other hand, my newly purchased '72 Notchback has a Westfalia hitch on it. I can't get any of the numbers off of it right now because the car is still not at my house. I went and paid the guy off the other day, but I don't have a trailer to get it home with right now. So it will sit snug and secure in his garage for a couple more weeks. The PO purchased the car while stationed in Germany in the Air Force. He drove it around for a couple of years over there before being transfered back to the states. He started taking it apart to restore it and lost interest. It's been sitting in his garage for a couple years and he wanted to sell it before getting transfered again. It has some rust problems, but I have everything needed to fix it up. It will probably take me a couple years to do it, since I'm already working on my '65. I will at least drive it at the Invasion though. I'll have three running Type 3's there. I'll drive one, my wife will drive one, and I have a friend driving the third. I guess that's one advantage of living 30 miles from Parma. I wouldn't try and actually use this hitch without installing the other bracketing and mounting hardware these hitches normally come with... On another topic, a VW friend of mine told me he found a "Westfalia Type 3 tow hitch with the electrical hookups" for sale. Does anyone know anything about these? I don't think I have ever seen one. I told him to get me a price and I would buy it. ;) Everett '63, '67 Squarebacks ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org </x-charset>
