At our local annual VW show last weekend a real wolf in sheep's clothing turned up. It was clearly a 1972 VW Type3 notchback and, at first, I thought from the sound of the motor that it was VW Type4-powered but then the subtle and hardly noticeable radiator grille at the front made me think it was perhaps a VW T3 Wasserboxer motor. Then, a quick look under the rear told me it was a Subaru. In fact, it seems the motor is a very potent 169kW (220hp) 2.0 litre Subaru WRX engine. It was a beautifully and skilfully done conversion but, even with larger disc brakes at the front and rear, I am not convinced the the rest of the car is capable of safely using all that power and torque. Anyway, if anyone would like to receive pictures of this very impressive wolf, please E-mail me.
