Unless your > battery is going bad. Our generators put out 30A. Let's suppose your battery is good for 45 A-hr, which is a pretty realistic number. If you drive for 10 minutes, putting out 30 A, 20 of which is available for recharging, then that is 1/6 x 20 =3.3A-hr, or 13.5% of your battery's total. The fact that the charging is not 100% efficient probably brings it down to 10%. It really isn't all that much.
