<x-charset iso-8859-1>My buddy and I finaaly pulled the nasty type 1 engine out of my '68 Fastback. *phew* I found out after we began taking it out that this father had been a VW mechanic and had passed on the ancient wisdom. An hour we'd started, my motor was lying on his garage floor. My questions...I want to put a type 3 engine with dual carbs in. Do I have to worry about which years' engine I get? Does it matter that I have manual transmission versus automatic? Also, when I do find an engine, how much trouble will I have finding all the tin, mounting, and cooling stuff? Right now I'm staring at a transmission and a big, blank hole. Finally, if by chance someone in Washington State has a type 3 motor for sale, I'd like to hear about it.
