Early switches are transverse to the column and there is a little cap on the left side which covers the tail end. Remove the cap and check out where the wires connect. See if you can figure out which wires are which and see if voltage is getting thru the switch to the starter solenoid circuit in the START position. > Also since my car hasn't been started in a while, is there a way to bypass > the ignition switch at least to just get it going? I guess "hotwiring" it? You can use a sacrificial wrench to bridge across the starter itself. Short from the big bolt that is farthest from the starter to the small push-on terminal where the solenoid wire connects. BE CAREFUL not to short to ground. You can also monitor the solenoid wire here to see what kind of voltage it gets in the START position. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
