<x-flowed>Talking about a 4 valve per cylinder head, my Scirocco 16V is designed the 
intake valves are angled and the exhaust valves are parallel with the 
pistons creating the quench area.  These engines put out 123Hp in stock 
configuration and I get 30 MPG at 70 MPH on the highway.  The CR of this 
engine is 10:1.  IMHO I agree that Gene knew, for the most part, about of 
what he was talking about but I think sometimes he just got an idea in his 
head and just wouldn't let go of it.  Shad, I really appreciate the post 
you made.  It cleared up many questions that I have had about CR, head 
design, cylinder head temp and power.  Thanks for the well explained and 
clear explanation.
