<x-charset iso-8859-1>WillB=> building a 1776 ... => I've found a 010 ... worth the conisderation => or do I keep my stock? I've been running an 010 on my 1641 for some time, and the performance has been pretty good, much better than the 009 (which in my opinion is junk). I'm convinced that any mechanical-advance-only distributor will exhibit some sort of flat spot on acceleration, however. This is not a huge problem for street racers, but for daily drivers it can be annoying. If your carbs have a vacuum takeoff for advance, it would be worth your while to experiment with your stock distributor. I'm currently using a stock AH distributor from a late FI engine, and I'm finding much smoother acceleration from low rpm. I'm also looking at the possibility that the engine will run a little cooler while cruising and vacuum is low.
