<x-charset iso-8859-1>Bottom line is that the type 3 was just not designed for pulling on the bumper area. Heck it is barely designed to have the bumpers take any kind of a bump whatsoever without damaging the sheetmetal. With a bumper mount tow bar you will put tremendous side to side stress on a small little spot welded area. Every time you turn the tow vehicle will yank the towbar and bumper eventually weakening or ripping the bumper mounts from your car, worse case your car would tear free from your tow vehicle and cause a massive 100 car pile up killing scores of children. Not trying to be a jerk but our cars are really not built for this. Have a custom mount made that will bolt to the frame. Might be expensive but not really if you consider the "could happens" I am not sure of the beetle bumper mount towbars, I've only seen the kind that hook to the front beam or bolt to the framehead on a superbeetle.
