Re: [T3] 2 & 3 not firing..
<x-flowed>Greg, I think I read that you solved your problem, but I got here late, so
I'll just chime in on one of my favorite quick FI diagnosis tricks for the
trigger contacts.
Need VOM with the long pointy probes. In the plug at the dist. base, the
center lug is common. The outer lugs are for one side each of the trigger
contacts. They fire in turn one side at a time.
Disconnect the condensor wire. Stick one of the VOM probes into the
connection for the center (common) lug. Get metal-to-metal contact. Set
VOM to measure resistance. Other probe touches one of the outer lugs. Have
an assistant crank the starter. If you have electrical contact, you will
see the reading alternate quickly between zero and infinity. On an analog
meter, the needle just swings back and forth. Repeat for the other outer
lug.
If you don't see electrical contact, find out why. wires, connections, etc.
You also need to make sure periodically (every few years?) that the trigger
contacts are clean. Drag a clean dollar bill through them. Or a business
card.
