<x-charset iso-8859-1>> I have what seems like a sticky solenoid. Every time I crawl under to > do the tests in Muir everything checks out OK. I then get back in and > turn the key and it starts up fine. Check out www.hallvw.clara.net/starter.htm It's probably a starter in need of a bit of cleaning and lubrication - pretty common in fact. You could probably keep getting under and tapping it, and it would continue to work. You might of course have a lazy ignition starter switch, or a poor connection(s) anywhere in the starter and ignition switch circuit. A favourite place is the connector under the seat/carpet (or by the battery on later ones). Dave.
