I've always routed it in the normal place, but without the original sleeving. Most people have never seen that sleeving. I suspect that the main function of the sleeving was to protect the outside braid of the OE German hose from abrasion. The US hose comes with a separate outside skin which does the same thing, rendering the sleeve unnecessary. I've been doing it this way for 30 years, it makes for a neat job, and I haven't seen it give any trouble in that time. Heat seems not to be a problem; keep in mind that the cooling tin doesn't get particularly hot while the engine's running, since there is cool air blowing under it. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/
