<x-charset iso-8859-1>If I remember my history correctly, Skoda did the original design and manufacture of the German Panzer tanks in WWII and also the Russian T-34. These were two of the most successful tanks ever built. Pre-WWII Czechoslovakian design and engineering was equal or superior to any in the world. After the Communists took over, everything went to hell. I don't know anything about the modern stuff. Thomas E. VW get quite a lot of parts made in Czechoslovakia, where Skodas are made, and they pass VWs high standards. It's just a matter of economics - labour is much cheaper there, rather than less skilled.
