that was the reading while engine was at medium to high rpm.
I will retest when new reg. is in.

That sounds like the normal voltage when the engine is idling. Did youthis reading while idling, or at a medium (2000-2500) RPM?
If this was at medium RPM, then, yes, replace the VR with a genuine Bosch.
