[T3] Alternator Conversion

It would if unmodified! The shaft flange (rear alternator cover in this
case) of the type 1 unit comes off easily and one can remove considerable
material without any effect on its strength. I did this with a band saw,
but it could also be accomplished easily with many types of hand saws.

You can't see it plainly in the picture, but a small amount material was
also removed to clear the distributor. The metal is very soft and easily
shaped. Having done this, only a very small amount of deformation in the
cooling sheet metal was necessary -- about 1/4 inch. The reshaping required
was at the very back of the depression already there for the generator. It
merely needed to be extended and deepened. I have seen absolutely no effect
on cooling.
