Hehehe... I use a 1" drive rachet :-) The handle is 3 feet long, and I weigh like 230lbs or something :-) Easy. The smallest socket it has is 20mm I think. It's handy when your brother-in-law owns a Fuel injection workshop (diesel equipment). Anyway, now that you've knackered a ratchet, just weld the socket straight to the left over rachet handle, and save it as a tool for next time. Use a big-ass arc welder and just keep going until theres as much weld as there is socket :-) Allan :-) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ben Doughney" <ben_d@clear.net.nz> To: <type3@vwtype3.org> Sent: Sunday, July 07, 2002 8:57 PM Subject: Re: [T3] no turning back... on 7/7/2002 7:17 PM, Parker-Durost at ginpete@xprt.net wrote: > One other thing. I just use a 1/2" ratchet with a 3/4" adapter and 36mm socket. I stick a great big 6ft piece of pipe over the handle and it gets gland nuts and axle nuts off no worries. Sometimes if nuts are rusted, or just stuck, it can help to tighten them just a bit, to break the rust, and then loosen them.
