I should have said to disconnect the sensor wire from the harness and then hook up the ohmmeter. I also was too harsh in stating what happened to me when my 68 sensor shorted to ground. It killed the engine (as in made it cease to run) but the engine started right back up as soon as I unshorted the sensor.
