What should I watch out for? I had the same problem on my Fastback, when the brakes were pressed, the fronts would lock hard, then gradually release. I replaced the brake hoses and all is well now. The hoses are the same as a Beetle with disk brakes. But you could have the same symptoms with bad calipers. When I took the hoses off, I put some plastic bags around the 'inboard' end of the hoses to keep the brake fluid off the paint, and it was coming out quite rapidly, so you need to have all of the tools on hand so you can switch the hoses quickly. > 4) Brake bleeding: So I have my clear 1/4" hose. Remember, I'm doing this alone. How much brake fluid should I > have on hand? When I got to the bleeding part, I used a piece of string to tie the bleeder hose up to the tie rod (the hose went up and then down to my bottle, half full with brake fluid) so all of the air bubbles would be up above the caliper, so there was no chance of the air getting back into the system. When I cracked open the bleeder, the air bubbles started coming out by themselves, and it didn't take that much fluid to get the system clear. If you have dual circuit brakes, you only need to do the front.
