<x-charset iso-8859-1>The best centering tool is the rear main drive shaft from another trans. I have been using one since it's unceremonious exit from the trans in my '67 beetle. The front and rear drive shafts are splined where they meet and are held together with a screw. The reverse gear slides over the splines and is held in place by a circlip thus preventing the shafts from unscrewing. Unless your circlip breaks...
