MY recently purchased '69 has a dealer installed Meier~Line under dash unit installed, but other than the owners manual I know nothing.......... The compressor (?) is no longer mounted in the engine bay, but the fan housing has been adapted for it and/or the A/C belt. Under the car there is a fan with some PO smashed ducted work, and the coil. All of the plumbing runs up on the passengers side by the foot rest (this made installing new carpet a pain........) Greg -- Vintage Warehouse PO Box 2321 Windsor, Ca. 95492 707.291.7606 http://vintagewarehouse.com See my reply to a previous e-mail. The single-belt system never worked, at least for me. The belt had a short life of about 50 miles. the two-belt system was what I used on my 1964 Type 34. A long ratchet-looking nut running off the crankshaft let the crank and generator connect. Then a second belt running off the crank and connecting to the A/C compressor runs the A/C. The latter system was VW's solution to the problem of a A/C on a Type 3. Those ratchet-like nuts are still available as used items. Try advertising on www.oroad.com/volkswebbin and www.thesamba.com.
