[T3] generator or battery

                  ......any vehicle, short of computer
controlled and/or FI vehicles, will run with a very
low battery, albeit some very poorly depending on the
voltage output the charging system is producing. From
the symptoms you describe, your charging system is
at fault. VW's in general, produce fairly low voltage
and amperage at idle and your weak battery is likely
compounding the problem. If your charging system checks
out OK, I would put your batery on trickle charge for
several hours or possibly overnight and that should
bring things back up to par. The stock charging system
takes quite a long time to fully recharge a dead
battery especially at running speeds produced just
from cruising around town.
