I'd check the ATF level first and make sure that it is between the dipstick marks when checked with the car idling in N after running it thru all the gears (to fill up all the passages in the AT.) > Should the car always be started and shut off in "N"? Downshift manually is optional and not necessary. The shift point is adjusted by adjusting the vacuum modulator which is explained in the Bentley manual. This will also adjust the AT and brakes fighting at idle. Yes, this sounds like yours is out of adjustment, which just means that it was installed by someone who didn't know or care to adjust it when he replaced it. > Oh, and - (this for the esteemed Mr. Adney) - do you still have vintage > Bentleys for sale? Yes, I have 3 of them with the color wiring diagrams at the moment.
