<x-charset iso-8859-1> Since my posting this morning, I have put in another 100 miles on my engine for a total of 450 miles since Monday morning, I put 8 miles on it on the weekend while tuning. Yeah my oil may be cold (130 degrees) and thick (porage)if I use higher viscosity oil. Maybe I will use 10w-30 or 5w-30 type oil. I have been using semi synthetic on my last engine and have added Prolong engine additive. I have noticed my engines (several different brands) are cleaner and run cooler. The semi synthetic oil does not produce sludge when too cold as in pure dino oils. I have an engine thermostat that warms up the engine quite quick. Yeah I will put in that oil thermostat to regulate that temps. My oil light never lights up no matter how slow my engine gets. I hope that my next engine autotopsy will show even less wear than my last engine that died after 55,000 miles, as you have read in the past, my engine death occured because my cam gear stripped, I did not know the gear had to be matched with the case, it did feel a little tight putting in. I really hope my hydraulic lifters will last as long as I want, they do seem to work, no play at the valve stem and rockers. Oil does ooz out of the pushrod side of the rockers. These lifters are the same slip in type that is made for and used in those VW based aircrafts, they have a online catalog, I forgot their address. I have not heard anyone rag on those lifters at a VW Airplane forum similar to ours so I will cross my fingers. If they do fail as some people think they may, I will just tighten them down but I think they will last the life of the engine, so lets see. My objective is durability and good performance. I hope to give my engine 45,000 miles this year and next year. Lets see how much torture my engine can take during it's life. Knock on wood.
