The right angle ends are really important to keep the dist wires from wearing against the engine cover and destroying the insulation as well as wearing thru the wires themselves. Those ends are no longer available at any price and were pricey when still available. I have good used Bosch ones. They are excellent quality and last forever. The red silicone rubber caps for the SP connectors were introduced around 1970 and are excellent for all cars. They are a great help for damp weather starting. Everyone should have a set of these on their car. They fit all the air cooled VW engines. These are still available from VW and Bosch and are only slightly pricey. I have new ones as well as good used ones in stock. The bakelite SP connectors themselves contain a 1000 Ohm resistor and are good as long as that resistor measures okay. Corrosion anywhere in these is of no consequence. These connectors themselves are also a commonly available part, but I avoid all but the Bosch ones, if possible. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
