My 1964 model notchback (built Sep '63 with VIN 247 098) has problems with the ignition switch in the steering column. I assume that the contacts have become worn down with age and use. So, I have removed it from the steering column to reveal the wiring. The car runs and drives but has to be started by connecting the wires behind the ignition switch. I know nothing about electricity (whiteman's magic!). Can somebody please tell me which wires I should connect or touch together with a screwdriver in order to get the car to start. When I bought the car the bloke selling it started it this way when demonstrating the car to me. Also, how do you stop the engine like this. To date I have been stalling it to stop the motor.
