<x-charset iso-8859-1>mmmm. >I do disagree with this, I have 7 to 1 on my 1679 and the fuel economy is just fine, around 27 in town on an IRS early Notch. The reason there difficult to tune, at least with stock carbs is the fact that there is little you can do with carbs to "tune" them. You can change jets, but they your making step changes in either direction and you don't get any fine tuning ability... nor can you make the chokes track properly during warm-up. you are such an fi bigot on the list i have never known anybody consistently slate carbs as you do you have obviously had a little bad luck in the past don't drag them down . my pdsits work fine chokes run fine its fine it can be fine they are very tuneable and if you do so you can always get it back to original without too many problems unlike the holy grail virgin sensors that are often sought out due to misinformed fi adjustment. i too love fi systems and have solved my fair share of problems with fi engines as with carbs . you don't see me on the list saying that fi is no good or others do you. it all boils down to an iividuals personal ability at the end of the day to understand each system as they are and how they work. not wanting to start a flame war on this list as it is the best without doubt resource that we have for our vehicles and the knowledge here is excellent. you are more than entitled to your opinion but i ask if you could be a little more constructive it would help those who have less knowledge than yourself at the end of the day this fi versus carb thing runs thin and lets remember why we are all toghether here in the first place to help people out if we have time and we can . 1966 typ 3 sqr with fitted irs pan. soon to run 2ltr + typ 4 power. off the speedo in germany if i can. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe </x-charset>
