Second key turn plus > gas pedal gets it to start. When you hold the pedal down while trying to start, you're not really "giving it gas." You're opening the air intake, which is a good way to help start a flooded FI engine. So it sounds like you might be running rich, even while trying to start. What do the plugs look like? > Will figure out this fuel pressure guage hookup ... Yes, do this. I think I described earlier how to make a good $10 gage from hardware store parts and 5/16" fuel line. This hooks to a T fitting between the right-hand-side injectors. If your pressure is too high (more than about 30psi), this might be a cause for running rich. > ...and then figure out how to measure the running voltage... Again, real easy. VOM across the battery posts. Engine warmed up and revved up a bit. You can also measure at any point on the fuse block. > Will check dwell at speed as well as idle > and see how much it changes... If the dwell moves around, your dist. shaft is worn. -Mark Fuhriman ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe </x-charset>
