<x-charset iso-8859-1>> When I restored my 1960 Beetle in 1994/5, I did come across a flat lobe on > the cam for cylinder 2. The motor had 71,505 miles on it, was definitely > original in mileage and to the car. I had a bad cam at about 60,000 miles on a '59 (30hp) Bug engine - they apparently had a bad batch around then, but it still cost me! I assume yours was the 30hp engine too. I guess it's unusual for a factory Type 3 engine (as also for a factory Type 1). Dave.
