<x-charset iso-8859-1>Okay, I admit it. I'm a complete novice. Changing the brushes in your generator is supposed to be easy. But I've got three manuals with three different suggestions. I have the upright, Beetle style engine stuck into a Fastback...I know, ,we've gone over how bad that is, but I need to get it running well enough to drive to a VW knowledgeable friend's house where I'm hoping to put a new engine in....So, I can only get to one of the brushes. No problem replacing it, but what about the lower one? Also, the "Idiot's Guide" says to run the engine and clean the commutator with sand paper. Another manual says to disconnect the battery ground and use "solvent". Any tips or hints? ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org </x-charset>
