I never thought about this before, but if you're using an oxygen sensor type of system, then the sensor has to be HOT, and there is no place on a VW system that will be hot AND in line with the exhaust from ALL the cylinders. Quite a dilemma. I would think the bus would have the same problem. The old Heathkit meter that I have runs off "cool" exhaust gas, so it just has a tube you stick up the tailpipe.
