<x-charset iso-8859-1>I did a bunch of work on my '67 Squareback last weekend: o New disc brake pads, new rotors (past wear limit), new rubber brake lines o New dual port intake seal on left side, there was an air leak o New vacuum port rubber cap (cracked) because my car has a 009 o Oil and tranny fluid change, greased front end o New plugs; new plug wires to replace mismatched set on vehicle o Set chokes, one was stretched out so I tweaked it back to the correct tension o Set idle and mixtures, synched carbs. o New fuel lines and filter o New fuel line bushing for engine tin over tranny, found perfect bushing at hardware store o New rubber ends on the balance tube - used 7 mm fuel line hose, fit perfectly o Adjusted clutch pedal free play o New shifter bushing in tunnel! Comments/Questions 1. When I retracted the calipers for the new rotors and pads, I had to move them in and out a few times to get them working nicely at the new setting, is this normal? 2. The lock plates for my calipers had the little lock tabs broken off so I used lock washers. 3. What should the part # be for a '67 distributor? Anyone have one for sale? 4. The thermostat is broken, can this be replaced without pulling the engine and removing all the tin? It looks like I can just unscrew the heater box to engine tin and replace the thermostat. I was thinking of putting a set of vice grips on the thermostat rod so it doesn't spring up into the engine. 5. When I was at my FLAPS, there was another Squareback owner there (Square not there), he was looking for a set of solid glass to replace his pop-outs because "my system keeps popping the popouts out of their hinges" ;) ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org </x-charset>
