I tried this on my square, and needed to "paint" the wires each fall for them to
be good through the winter. It was a bit hard to find the breaks as it is
impossible to locate them by measuring the ohms; I switched power on, used the
VOM and measured the voltage along each of the lines. Clipped the black end onto
the negative side of the rear window and just pointed the needle of the other
test lead one cm at a time until I found the break. Then I masked the area and
painted. It worked for a while, but not infintely.

My Audi doesnt even have a rear defroster - it's a cabrio with plastic rear
window and a cold air fan in the rear seat back.
