Problem is that with the AC sets people often plug them in to "try" them and destroy the power transformers in short order. This is not problem with the car radios but in general... most of the sets out there are in need of work, the Blaupunkts especially although they are great radios performance wise. I wouldn't touch a non-working radio, because the ability to fix them has been lost over time. I got one for my Type 34 that was a Blaupunkt and tried to install it. Turns out it was a FM only radio, which relegated it to my 1955 Beetle in favor of a modern radio with AM-FM for my Type 34. That's something else to watch out for: AM only and FM only radios.
