The boxes may well be filled with crap (probably the major source of your
trouble).  Clean the drain tubes for the air boxes.  The drain hoses run
between the air boxes (look way up under the dash) to the front bulkhead. 
Just pull the hoses off (be ready for a deluge of water when you pull them
out) and poke a stiff wire through.  When poking through the front bulkhead,
that metal you are hitting is the fuel tank.
