All 1964-65 1500S sold in Sweden came with gas heater and larger rear 
reflectors, but without rear arm rest. I have always wondered if the gas 
heater  (required by climate) and rear reflectors (required by law) made 
the car so much more expensiv that VW tried to save money on something 
and deleted the rear arm rest.

BTW, I have never seen a 1962-63 car without side markers.
