Martin, read the instructions and just take the carbs one at a time. The first time I did it, I must have checked them 3 times, and then I still wasn't sure. Finally I just said the heck with it, close enuf. They stayed like that until the next spring, then I just checked them again and drove it. Well try a couple of the ideas the list gave on the distributor, and if it still doesn't work out you know you can always use the 009. One thing to be aware of though is that the type3 distributors rotor will be in a different location than a bugs because of the cooling tin gets in the way for the vacuum unit (its drive is offset). I hope this helps.
