The 71 only had 60k on it when I first bought it and I know there was no head work done on it while it was in NY. Besides the head has the following cast into it. 311.101.375 VW 71 The "VW" is the roundel. The hi-rev springs were all that was available new when I was shopping. What do people do that run dual springs? They are much higher pressure that the single springs. Even the hi-rev ones. Going to go pull that valve out for a "look see". Not that I expect to see much. Will have to start looking for another head, I guess. The blow-by might explain the lower compression on that bank. #3 and 4 each had 120 psi. #2 had 90psi and #1 had 110psi. I will lap in the cylinders on this bank. I think I will leave the other bank alone. I will check on the availability of stock springs.
