and yes it is dual carb.

i went up to powells (bookstore) at lunch since i'm only a couple blocks 
away, an awesome resource btw, and i found in a book a picture which 
shows, i suspect, the proper relation of the rotor/no1  timing mark/plug 
wire position...if it's correct, no 1 should be somewhere around 4-5 
o'clock (6 being rear of car), if this is so, than my dist. is truly 
backwards and will be an easy fix (i hope)....
