<x-charset Windows-1252>There is usually a ridge that has built up on the inside of the drums where the shoes don't contact it, similar to the ridge at the top of a cylinder wall. You need to back off your shoes to clear this ridge to get the drums off. You can get it close thought if you have them turned as the lathe removes this ridge so when you replace them you can adjust them so the drum slips on with a bit of resistance. We need to adjust these regularly anyway so it is good to get used to it while your at it. Our cars do not self adjust like American cars. I don't think so because you usually have to back the adjusters off to get the drum off.
