<x-charset iso-8859-1>They do have a kind of God complex but don't knock them for being prudent about information that could help someone steal your car. If the original poster has the key then they can get into the shifter to get at the mounting bolts. Then they can lube the ball & socket as well as the bushing which could possibly be the culprit and/or adjust the position of the shifter so that all gears can be accessed. My '65 single cab sat for a couple of years and when I got it running I couldn't get into first and second gears. I lubed the bushing and voila, it worked again.
