Then I would just buy some actual paint, and slap it in!! If you plan to sandblast (I would plastic media blast) anyhow, just go get a can of the cheap stuff and spray paint .. All one color.. At least it will be sealed. Do an experiment.. Take a piece of sanded down sheet metal (like an old fender or something) and keep it outside. Watch how long it takes to rust... It only takes 8 minutes for rust to start!! No you cant see itt yet, but its there. If you use paint, it will look nicer, and you are goin to get rid of it anyways.. If you used the rattle can primer, you would have to strip it off completely before you painted anyways... Anyhow, im not trying to preach, just give suggestions.. I am neck deep into a pan-off restoration that started out as a $1000 budget to paint and get new seals... I am aproaching the $10,000 mark!! (mostly on tools, compressor, welder, paint, primer, sandpaper, etc) so be carefull!!! I have to update my web page with the progress, and I'll post the address... I just got the body onto the rebuilt/lowered pan yesterday, and I bought my basecoat today!! Yaay! Next payday I will buy the clearcoat and then I'm in business!! I have been working on it for about 6 months... The next project will probably be a weekend quickie paint job, I have had VW's my entire life, and since I tore this one apart, I have been without one to drive for FAAAAAAAAR too long! I think the way to go is just get the thing on the road!! (grass is always greener) so what I am getting at is, I am jealous about your even with the rusty fenders and all that stuff, because you get to drive it!! After all, isn't that the point? Oh well.. Sorry for the rant! Johnny 67 fasty on a 69 pan ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/
